Who we are

Our coaches bring more than 25 years combined experience in the areas of strength and conditioning, athletics, and fitness. This is our passion and our life, not just a hobby. We offer regular group classes, private small group training, and private one-on-one training.

How we’re different

You won’t find rows and rows of single-purpose machines at CrossFit Fresno. Traditional hard work and sweat, not cables and motors move the weights in our facility. There are no televisions or mirrors. Because working hard alongside your fellow members and cheering each other on is where the real entertainment is. What you will find in our facility are barbells, medicine balls, kettlebells, pull-up bars, and most importantly, wide open space for all the fun.

What we do

We don’t train for the sake of vanity and we don’t do body building split-routines that focus on isolation. We train movements that you see in life because we want to improve your quality of life. Greater mental fortitude, feeling good, and looking awesome are just lucky side effects of your hard work.

It is important to us to record how every member does in every workout. Because to truly see the success of our program, our members’ performances must by measurable and repeatable. It is this measurement of performance that promotes healthy competition, intensity, determination, and a commitment from our members that drive them to excel and achieve results that were never thought possible. With that said it must be noted that results are not guaranteed, they are earned!

Who we serve

Regardless of current fitness level, we can make this program work for anyone willing to put in the effort. There’s no need to feel intimidated if you don’t know anything about CrossFit. And don’t be misguided into thinking that you need to get fit before coming in to see us; it’s our duty to get you fit! Whether you’ve been working out regularly for years or it’s been years since you’ve worked out, we are here to facilitate your decision to improve your performance and your health now.

Coaches

As coaches, we take pride in our level of professionalism and the quality of our instruction. We hold firmly to the concept of virtuosity–“performing the common uncommonly well.” A solid foundation of proper technique is vital to future success.

We constantly strive to deepen our knowledge, improve our coaching skills, and keep current with evolving training modes. We believe in practicing what we preach; if it’s in our programming, we’ve done it. We can only help our members reach their greatest potential if we push ourselves to reach ours.

Jon

 

Jon loves to coach. When he’s not coaching CrossFit athletes he’s at the track working with the Clovis West High School sprinters. Jon received both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Fresno State. While at Fresno State he competed on the track team and was an intern for the Strength & Conditioning Facility. He worked with the California Department of Corrections as a Physical Fitness Testing Specialist for 5 years and spent a year as the Health and Fitness Coordinator for the Fresno Police Department. Jon has trained people of all ages and abilities including, but not limited to; career professionals, college athletes, professional athletes, and teams from club to professional.Jon’s degrees, certifications, and professional affiliations follow:
• B.S. in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Exercise Science, Fresno State
• M.A. in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Exercise Science, Fresno State
• Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist with the National Strength & Conditioning Association

ROSANNA P. AKERS, M.A., CROSSFIT LEVEL 1, C.S.C.S.

 

Rosanna

 

Rosanna has well over 10 years experience designing and implementing strength and conditioning programs for individuals, classes, and athletic teams. She began her career in the health and fitness industry as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach in the athletic department at Fresno State where she coached for more than 4 years. After leaving the athletic department in 2002, she began training clients in the private sector. In addition, since 2000 she has been a part-time faculty member of the Kinesiology Department at Fresno State where she enjoys teaching strength training to students of all ages and abilities. Since Jon introduced her to CrossFit in 2008, she’s never felt stronger or had so much fun challenging herself and all of her students and clients.Rosanna’s degrees, certifications, and professional affiliations follow:
