“Goals are a means to an end, not the ultimate purpose of our lives. They are simply a tool to concentrate our focus and move us in a direction. The only reason we really pursue goals is to cause ourselves to expand and grow. Achieving goals by themselves will never make us happy in the long term; it’s who you become, as you overcome the obstacles necessary to achieve your goals, that can give you the deepest and most long-lasting sense of fulfillment.” – Anthony Robbins
GOAL SETTING TIME
Today is a rest day, use your time off to think about your CrossFit goals. Do you even have goals? If you do, have you written them down? You’re sure to have heard the age-old saying “failing to plan is planning to fail”. This is as true with goal setting as with any other aspect of life. World renowned motivational speaker Zig Ziglar lays out how to go about setting and accomplishing your goals. Take note. Once you’ve given it some thought, post your goal(s) and a realistic due date on the “Goal Board” in the lobby.
- Write it down.
- Put a date on it.
- List obstacles to overcome.
- Identify the people/groups/organizations that you need to work with.
- Spell out a plan of action (include the time limit).
- Identify all benefits.
